I was hoping the monopod with give enough stability to level the camera and provide shots of the stands without anyone for layer editing purposes. It was better than last year’s freeholding of the camera, albeit far from ideal. I think I will shoot (all else being equal) with a slower f-stop to try to keep the field of focus wide enough to give the tack-sharp look to both the front and back. It’s a situation I don’t think I’ll find ever satisfying because while I’m not happy, the front and far faces are sharper than just about every like-kind photo I’ve found online. It’s the nature of the beast with group photography I think.
Also, I need a better location as I spend most of my time removing rust, stains, and other issues with this location. It was picked (again) because of the timing and sunlight.
